Bourne & Hollingsworth: Our Story

Bourne & Hollingsworth is London’s leading creative lifestyle company specialising in entertainment and hospitality. We’re a close-knit group of friends and our mission is to inspire creativity, pleasure and happiness through the production of highly influential and creative hospitality solutions.

We curate beautiful spaces and fascinating events that bring together like-minded people for an exceptional experience, delivered with a laidback but memorable service.

In 2014 we embarked on our biggest venue venture as we opened Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings - our flagship venue in Clerkenwell, just off Exmouth Market. Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings is a multi-faceted clubhouse featuring a restaurant, greenhouse, cocktail bar, cookery school and late-night underground drinking and dancing den. 

Purposefully moving away from the overthought and increasingly faddy designs that have flooded the London restaurant and bar scene in recent years, B&H Buildings features pared back, classic interiors that are light, clean and almost minimalist in their design.

Throughout the space, whitewashed floorboards, classic cornicing and light walls rendered with muslin are juxtaposed with bespoke ironwork, warm wood and antique armchairs and sofas reupholstered with thick patterned fabrics like Kilim and hessian.

The cocktail bar, which occupies the sunny west-facing side of the building, opens onto the street and the leafy park beyond via huge windows and doors. Influenced by those typically seen in a Grand Café, the bar itself features bespoke concrete panelling and a beautiful white marble mosaic bar top. Behind the bar, geometric ironwork shelving and diamond mirror panelling cover the back wall.

Leaving the bar, the interiors take on a new style - one that is lightly overgrown, and captures the idea of an abandoned country house, where the gardens and the state rooms have slowly grown into one another. The café area features bentwood mahogany and wicker booths, while the restaurant and greenhouse mix soft furnishings and armchairs with cane garden furniture and wrought iron benches. The whole space will be filled with hanging baskets, full grown trees and trailing creepers, effectively bringing the outside in.
